For generations of Australian drivers, the Nissan Patrol has represented something bigger than simply getting from A to B.

It has been the vehicle families trusted for long-distance touring, the 4WD enthusiasts took deep into the bush, the tow vehicle chosen for big adventures and, for many owners, simply the car that became part of the family.

Now, after more than six decades of Patrol in Australia, the next chapter is about to begin.

The all-new Nissan Y63 Patrol is coming to Australia, with orders opening later this month and the first vehicles scheduled to arrive in Australian showrooms during the first quarter of 2027.

And here at Dandenong Nissan, we couldn't be more excited.

75 years of Patrol heritage

The Patrol story began in Japan in 1951, making 2026 the 75th anniversary of the nameplate.

In Australia, that history stretches back even further than many people realise. The Patrol first arrived here in 1961 and has spent more than 60 years establishing itself as one of Australia's most recognisable and trusted 4WDs.

From remote outback tracks to family holidays, worksites to suburban driveways, Patrol has earned its reputation through durability, capability and reliability.

The Y63 doesn't forget that heritage.

Instead, it takes everything people have come to expect from Patrol and combines it with a completely new generation of performance, technology, comfort and refinement.

A completely new Patrol

The all-new Y63 represents one of the biggest changes in Patrol history.

While the Y62 became famous for its naturally aspirated 5.6-litre V8, the Y63 introduces an entirely new powertrain designed to deliver more power and torque while bringing the Patrol into a new era.

Twin-turbo V6 power

At the heart of the new Patrol is a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine producing 317kW and 700Nm, paired with a new nine-speed automatic transmission.

That's an increase of 19kW and a substantial 140Nm over the outgoing Y62.

More importantly, maximum torque is available earlier in the rev range, helping deliver stronger response whether you're accelerating onto a freeway, towing a load or tackling challenging terrain.

And there's an interesting connection to another legendary Nissan nameplate.

The new engine incorporates Nissan GT-R-inspired engineering, including a scavenger oil pump designed to help maintain consistent engine lubrication during demanding off-road driving, including steep inclines and off-camber terrain.

For a vehicle carrying the Patrol badge, that's exactly the kind of engineering we want to see.

Adaptive Air Suspension

For the first time, selected grades of Patrol will feature Adaptive Air Suspension, combined with Nissan's Intelligent Dynamic Damping technology.

The system continuously adjusts to changing road and terrain conditions and can alter the vehicle's ride height depending on what you're doing.

In Off-Road Mode, the Patrol can increase its ride height to improve approach, breakover and departure angles.

When you return to the bitumen, the system can lower the vehicle at higher speeds to assist with cruising comfort and efficiency.

It can even lower the Patrol when placed into Park, making it easier to get in and out and load luggage or equipment.

It's a perfect example of what Nissan is trying to achieve with the Y63: serious capability when you need it, combined with the refinement expected from a modern flagship SUV.

Built for Australian conditions

Australia presents some unique challenges for any vehicle.

Extreme heat, long distances, rough roads and long periods behind the wheel are simply part of life for many Australian drivers.

The new Patrol introduces technology specifically designed to make those journeys more comfortable.

Selected grades feature Biometric Cooling, which monitors passenger temperature and can automatically adjust climate control settings to help create a cooler and more comfortable cabin.

For long-distance touring, selected variants also feature front massage seats, while first and second-row passengers benefit from Nissan's 'zero-gravity' seating design.

Because when your destination is hundreds of kilometres away, comfort matters.

A new level of technology

Inside, the Y63 Patrol is a significant departure from its predecessor.

The cabin is centred around Nissan's new Monolith display, integrating infotainment, navigation, vehicle information and connectivity.

Selected grades feature dual 14.3-inch displays, while a Head-Up Display projects important driving information directly into the driver's line of sight.

And for those who believe the soundtrack to a road trip matters almost as much as the destination, selected Patrol variants will feature a premium 12-speaker Klipsch audio system, developed with Panasonic Automotive specifically for the Patrol.

With a 600-watt amplifier and 12-channel system, it promises to turn the Patrol cabin into an impressive listening environment.

The Patrol has changed. The mission hasn't.

Technology and luxury have moved forward, but the fundamental purpose of Patrol remains.

It's still about having the confidence to head further.

It's still about carrying the family, the luggage, the camping gear and everything else that comes with an Australian adventure.

It's still about towing, touring and exploring.

And it's still about knowing that when the road ends, your vehicle isn't necessarily finished.

That's what makes the Y63 so significant.

It isn't simply replacing the Y62.

It's carrying the Patrol name into its next generation.
